Why 3x3?

3x3 tournaments enhance player development and improve decision-making skills in a fun, competitive and inclusive environment. This competition format emphasizes fast-paced and high-intensity play, challenging players to think on their feet, improve individual skills and develop better basketball IQ and court awareness

Rules Overview

New to 3X3? Here's a quick overview of the rules.

  • 4-player teams (3 players + 1 sub)

  • First to 21 -or- whoever is leading after 10 minutes *

  • 12-second shot clock (if available)

  • Scoring system: 1's & 2's

  • Continuous play (no checking it up after made baskets)

*6th Grade and under = first to 15 points

*Divisions will be based on grade levels for the 2026-2027 school year.

Even the basketball is different

The official FIBA 3x3 basketball is the size of a women's basketball (size 6), but is the weight of a men's basketball (size 7).
